Preventative Care

Regular check-ups and hygiene appointments following your initial exam will help ensure better long-term oral health. If you have stained teeth, bleeding gums during brushing, or scale build-up, call Schneider Family Dentistry today to make an appointment with us!

All new patients will receive a complete oral exam, using full mouth x-rays and a visual exam to evaluate your oral health. A complete oral cancer screening will be done to check for any lesions, swelling, or color changes which may indicate a problem area. The status of restorations will also be reviewed, and we’ll look for possible tooth decay and gum disease.

We understand a child's first experience at the dentist can impact the future of their dental health. Pediatric appointments are designed to give kids a pleasant experience early on to help guide them towards a lifetime of good dental health. We see children as early as the age of one (or after the full eruption of the upper & lower four front teeth). We'll also work with the parent to create a preventive treatment plan that's right for the child.

Our children’s dental services include oral exams, fluoride treatments, sealants, tooth-colored fillings, and dental crowns. All pediatric appointments include a review of health history and current care, to review fluoride in water, use of supplements/vitamins, and heart conditions. We also introduce your child to our treatment room with a fun tour and explanation of technology and tools. After the appointment, your child will receive a goodie bag including a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, floss-aid, and a toy!

A parent is recommended to be in the room for information on the child's home care, diet, habits (finger sucking or use of pacifiers), and express any concerns regarding the child's dental health.

Sealants can help prevent cavities and decay by filling in the pits and grooves in tooth enamel caused by plaque. Sealants are typically made of a special type of dental plastic, which is applied to the chewing surfaces of molars in a thin coat. This treatment is available for both children and adults and is more effective when applied at a young age – but it’s never too late to get them!

Restorative Dentistry

Dentures are a removable replacement for one or more missing teeth. Custom-made dentures are used to restore both function and aesthetics of a smile. Dentures are available in full and partial options and fit comfortably in the mouth. Some require the use of an adhesive to stay in place, while partial dentures often rely on strong, natural teeth and metal clasps to stay in place.

Also known as partial crowns or fillings, inlays and onlays are used to permanently remedy chipped, broken, and damaged teeth depending on the severity of the decay. The name of the restoration changes according to where it is placed on the tooth: inlays are fitted in to a space in the tooth, while onlays extend to the outer edges of the tooth. Porcelain restorations match your tooth color and provide you with a natural, bright smile.

Dental Procedures

To make your visit as comfortable as it can be, we offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), as well as a number of other treatment options to help address a variety of concerns.

Nitrous Oxide, also known as Laughing Gas, is a safe and effective way to manage pain and anxiety. It isn’t intended to put you to sleep but is meant to help make you feel more comfortable – your ability to see, hear, and respond to requests won’t be impacted. Nitrous Oxide is convenient because it doesn’t have long-term effects and its effects are felt quickly.

Trigger Point Injections may help treat TMJ disorder. These injections may be recommended, in addition to other treatments, if you experience pain from clenching your jaw or different muscle strains. Injections work by using a numbing agent or steroid to increase circulation in tense muscles, break up tension, and eliminate excessive tenderness. Post injection pain is uncommon but can be treated easily with hot/cold compresses and over-the-counter medication.

Botox treatment is an in-office procedure that benefits many different patients beyond cosmetic wrinkle reduction. It can be used to help treat various types of TMJ disorder, help with Bruxism and clenching, and be paired with night guard appliances. Botox can also be used to help relax and retrain muscles around a new denture, which can make the transition easier and often, more successful.
